Over the upcoming holiday break, most University offices will be closed beginning Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. and reopening Monday, January 4, 2010. Below is information about a number of important University functions, including hours of operation and emergency contact information.

The Office of Admissions will be closed beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, and will reopen Monday, January 4, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. During the break, students may check their application status, view their transfer credit evaluation, and pay their acceptance fee at www.uvm.edu/admissions/appstatus. The first campus visit and tour for 2nd semester will take place Tuesday, January, 19, 2010, at 10:00 a.m.
During the holiday break, all Athletic facilities will be closed from Thursday, December 24, through Sunday, January 3. Adjusted winter break hours will resume on Monday, January 4. Please refer to the Campus recreation website for specific facility schedules.
The University will be hosting the Sheraton TD Bank Catamount Cup Men's Hockey Tournament at Gutterson Fieldhouse, Saturday, January 2 and Sunday, January 3, 2010. Men's Basketball will also be hosting UMBC on Saturday, January 2, at 1:00 p.m. in the Patrick Gymnasium.
The athletic ticket office will be closed from Thursday, December 24, until Monday, January 4. Tickets for all home athletic events are available at all times online at www.uvmathletics.com.
Banknorth ATMs in academic/administrative buildings, including the Davis Center, will be available throughout the break period. The ATMs in the residential buildings will shut down Friday, December 18, 2009 and return to service Friday, January 15, 2010.
The CATcard Service Center will close at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 and re-open at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2010. Cash deposits may be made in either the Bailey/Howe or Dana Medical Libraries using the DART machines, located by the circulation desks. Credit Card deposits may be made at http://www.uvm.edu/~catcard/notice.html
If you need to report a CATcard-related door access issue, please call Police Services at 656-3473, and ask them to contact the CATcard Technical Support Group.
If you wish to report your card as lost, log into the new Webcard center at webcard.uvm.edu, where you can flag your account as lost and reactivate it if found. If you have not signed up yet for this service, go to http://www.uvm.edu/~catcard/webcardinfo.html. You can also call Police Services at 656-3473 and ask them to deactivate your record. If you find your card and wish to reactivate it, please take it to Police Services at 284 East Avenue. They will reactivate your card, but you must go in person.
Conference & Event Services will close at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 and reopen on Monday, January 4, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. No events are scheduled; therefore, the office will not be providing event support services. R25 will still be available for submitting online reservation requests, and all reservation and space requests will be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis, once the office opens on Monday, January 4.
The Davis Center will close at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009 and reopen on Monday, January 4, 2010 at 7:00 a.m. All services located within the Davis Center will be closed during this time.
Development and Alumni Relations will be open 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. December 28 through 31 to transact calendar year-end gifts and provide customer service, primarily for alumni events. The Custodial Services Office will be closed from 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009 through Monday, January 4, 2010 at 7:00 a.m. During the break Custodial teams will be on-call for emergencies throughout campus.
Custodial Services requests that all office occupants empty their personal trash bins before the break in order to prevent odors and pests from accumulating during the break.
Med Plex public areas will be serviced throughout the break (restroom policing, hallway trash removal and recycling, and break rooms). Basic public services will also be provided to Residential Life (see Residential Life), Library Services (see Libraries), Athletics open areas (see Athletics), and Police Services. Scheduled university events will be serviced (set-up, breakdown and cleaning).
Snow removal will occur as needed to support the UVM community.

In order to support essential University functions during the winter break, all centrally supported information technology infrastructure services will be available, including:
Most of Enterprise Technology Services' regular support services will be closed, but ETS is providing services to help with the most urgent information technology issues.
The Davis Center and Waterman Building will be closed December 24, 2009 through January 3, 2010, and services based in those locations will not be available:
The Office of International Education will close at 4:30 pm. on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 and reopen Monday, January 4, 2010. For 24-hour emergency assistance, please contact University Police Services at 656-3473 for on-call support.
Hours will be reduced between Friday, December 18, 2009 and Sunday, January 3, 2010.

The extended break affects the semi-monthly and biweekly payrolls scheduled for December 30.
For the semi-monthly payroll of Wednesday, December 30, 2000, the due date for the submission of documents is being moved to Monday, December 7, 2009.
For direct depositors, the payroll will be distributed to member banks on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 for deposit on Wednesday, December 30, 2009.
For the biweekly payroll dated Wednesday, December 30, 2009, time worked will need to be submitted by 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 17, 2009. This early deadline means that some of the time to be worked during the closing will have to be submitted before it is actually worked. Supervisors will need to approve time before 3:00 pm on Thursday, December 17, 2009. Kronos supervisors will need to submit time by 2:00 pm on Thursday December 17, 2009. For direct depositors, the payroll will be distributed to member banks on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, for deposit on December 30, 2009.
For those receiving a paper paycheck delivered to UVM campus addresses -- either semi-monthly or biweekly -- the Human Resource Services, Employee Information Center will be open on December 30, 2009 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am for check pick-up. An ID will be required to pick up a check. Any checks not picked up on that date will be returned to UVM Mail Services on Monday, January 4, 2010, for distribution to campus.
Physical Plant will operate similar to a normal weekend or holiday. Anyone who has a problem related to a facilities operational need should call SOS at 656-2560. The central plant operators will receive the call and dispatch a service technician to the affected area. Physical Plant will have a service technician on site 24/7 just for these situations.
Weather pending, additional staff may be on-site if situations could be severe enough for building freeze-ups if a condition is left unattended or unnoticed. A notice to the UVM community to assist with energy savings measures will be sent shortly.
Police Services will provide public safety services per normal and customary practices and will be open 24/7 during the break.
The Residence Halls close at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 18 and reopen at noon on January 17. (Exceptions are L/L, Harris Millis, and the Cottages where break housing is offered for current UVM residents.) Complex main desks will be closed during this time period and many complex office managers will be using vacation leave in addition to the paid UVM holidays. Except for days that UVM is closed, Robinson Hall will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and on January 17 for Opening.
The Department of Risk Management & Environmental Safety will be closed beginning 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009 and reopening Monday, Janaury 4, 2010. Lab emergencies involving chemical spills or releases should be reported to Police Services at 911, who will page a Risk Management & Environmental Safety employee if needed. For any workplace injuries that occur during the holiday week, seek medical attention, and complete and submit a workers compensation first report of injury form.
Student Financial Services will be closed beginning 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009 and will reopen Monday, January 4, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. Many services, including viewing student accounts and paying bills electronically, can be accessed via the Student Financial Services website.
The TPS Office will remain open during normal business weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with the exception of Administrative Holidays.
Shuttle bus service will end at 4:20 pm on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 and resume at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2010. The on-demand shuttle service will end at 4:00 pm. on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 and resume at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2010.
Monday, December 21, 2009 through Sunday, January 3, 2010: All valid employee permits will be allowed parking in any lot on campus. Permits will, however, be required during regular hours with the exception of Administrative Holidays. Regular parking policy returns on January 4, 2010.
Should your car need to be parked on campus overnight while you are away on UVM business, please remember to park in the middle and lower levels of Gutterson Garage. With the winter season upon us, these locations will not be in the way of snow removal during the holiday break.

Metered Parking areas will be enforced in accordance with policy.
The UVM Bookstore, Henderson Café and CATPause Convenience Store will all be open Monday, December 21 through Wednesday, December 23, 2009, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

University Financial Services, including the Cashier's Office and Treasury, will be closed beginning 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009 and will reopen Monday, January 4, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. Any wire transfer requests must be put into the system by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2009. Any wire requests received after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 will not be entered and sent until Monday, January 4, 2010.
