Tight economic times mean consumers are looking for ways to put more pennies in their pocketbooks. Jane King, a financial educator and expert on family budgets, and leader of the support group: Budget Buddies will present on how to trim costs and expenses—from tracking your household spending habits, to picking up movies at the library.

February 11: You will learn how to create a personal budget. Come prepared with monthly income and expense figures (rent, mortgage, electric, heat, phone, transportation, food, entertainment, etc.) We will discuss tracking spending and everyone will have the challenge of tracking what you spend between workshops.

March 17: This workshop will focus on modifying spending habits based on tracking, adjusting your budget, setting financial goals and coming up with personal strategies for reaching financial goals.

Jane King recently spoke on VPR’s VT Edition on trimming expenses. She is a financial educator for Opportunities Credit Union in Vermont. Budget Buddies is a group that meets monthly with the objective of providing motivation, mutual support and encouragement in staying on budget and changing spending habits.
