Type of Action Definitions 

Use this information to choose the correct Type of Action for staff requisitions in PeopleAdmin.

Recruit - New or Classification Change: Recruitment for a new position requiring classification, or an existing position where a change in classification is proposed.

Recruit - No Classification Change: Recruitment for an existing position as it is currently classified.

Opportunity Hire - New or Classification Change: An opportunity hire for a position requiring classification or an existing position where a change is classification is proposed.

Opportunity Hire - No Classification Change: An opportunity hire for an existing position as it is currently classified.

Reclassify - Change in Title: A classification review to determine if a change in title is appropriate due to substantial changes in the nature, variety and complexity of the work of an existing position.

Update Position Description Only: Update a position description without changing the position title.

Off-Cycle-Change in Duties: A base salary adjustment used to address market and equity issues relative to a change in duties of the position. 

Off Cycle-Other: A base salary adjustment used to address market and equity issues relative to recruitment, retention and organizational change which does not include a change in the duties.

Pre-Classify (UE/Internal Selection Process): An initial step in a two-part process. A position (with no position number) requires classification for purposes of selecting a candidate from existing staff employees.

Pre-Classify (Reclassification Step): Second step in the two-part process. An employee is reclassified to the classification title identified in step one (using the employee's position number) and any associated salary change approved.
