When an Alternative Schedule is Not Approved

Alternative scheduling is an option – not a right – for employees and supervisors, and the employees does not have the right to grieve the supervisor’s decision. If the request for an alternative schedule is not approved, the employee may contact the HRS Information Center to discuss the situation. Nonetheless, an employee should be able to expect serious consideration for any scheduling proposal based on the following:

  • A review of the workload of the department
  • The effect of the proposed schedule on other employees
  • The individual needs of the requesting employee
