Administrative Support (C) Family

Administrative Support Family jobs do not require a Bachelor's degree and are non-exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Includes Business, Library, Office/Program, Service and Technical Support. 

Executive (E) Family

Executive Family positions require a Bachelor's degree and seven to ten years of experience and are exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Professional (P) Family

Professional Family jobs require education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree and are exempt from the FLSA. Includes Administrative Services, Health Care, Information Technology, Outreach, Research and Student/Academic Professionals.

Technical (T) Family

Technical Family positions perform a broad range of technical functions in addition to administration and oversight of laboratory and/or field research, multimedia equipment and instrumentation, environmental safety programs, and services or processes. Jobs in this family may be either exempt or non-exempt from the FLSA. Education and experience equivalent to a minimum of a high school diploma, specialized training or skills, and one to six years' related work experience is required. Includes Equipment, Media, Research and Safety.

Specialized (Sp) Family

Specialized Family positions provide routine to complex assistance, coordination, and oversight of precise functions within diversified bodies of work that require a specific area of expertise and minimum of two years postsecondary course of study, or training. Jobs in this family may be either exempt or non-exempt from the FLSA. Education and experience equivalent to a minimum of an Associate’s degree, specialized training or skills, and one to four years' related experience is required. Includes Accounting, Data Management, Facilities Analysis, Information Technology, Medical Specialist and Technologist, Nursing, Process Coordination, Program and Student Services Specialties.

Skilled Craft (K) Family

Skilled Craft Family positions perform a broad range of routine to complex manual and mechanical functions and provide general to highly skilled repairs, restoration, maintenance, and installations using a specialized manual skills and knowledge of a particular craft or trade. Specific apprenticeship requirements, certification, or licensure may apply. Jobs in this family are non-exempt from the FLSA. Education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma is required. Includes Facilities (Building, Hazardous Materials, Operating Engineer and Utilities) and Mechanical Trades.

Service (S) Family

Service Family positions perform a broad range of routine to specialized assistance, maintenance and repair functions and provide coordination and oversight of services and operations related to law enforcement, personal/building security, access and transportation and parking. Jobs in this family may be either exempt or non-exempt from the FLSA. Education and experience equivalent to a minimum of a high school diploma is required. Includes Transportation and Protective Services.

Maintenance (M) Family

Maintenance Family positions perform a broad range of assistance, coordination, and oversight of custodial, grounds, and pasture maintenance, horticultural activities, routine assistance and care to designated farm animals, and routine to specialized equipment repair and maintenance. Jobs in this family may be either exempt or non-exempt from the FLSA. Education and experience equivalent to at least an elementary education is required. Includes Research Facility, Farm, Custodial and Grounds Maintenance.
