The Gund Institute, supported by the Mayo-Smith Family Research Award Endowment, offers undergraduate students exciting opportunities to participate in faculty research, conduct thesis projects, attend events and learn from visiting scholars.

Gund Undergraduate Research Awards

Each summer, Gund Institute Summer Research Awards support environmental research by UVM undergrads in partnership with the Office of Fellowships, Opportunities and Undergraduate Research's Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) Program, as described on this webpage.

Students must be supervised by at least one Gund Faculty, Postdoctoral, or Graduate Student Fellow or a UVM-based Gund Affiliate. Gund Advisors of these Summer Undergraduate Research Awards can access an additional $500 to support the research in the academic year following the summer.
