Our
group dealt with the erosion of the Shelburne Farms shoreline. We
measured the length of seawalls, overhangs, and shorelines in order to
learn more about the effect of the lake on the land. We were
trying to find an effective measure of the erosion around the lake, and
here's how we did it:
Methods:
The
first command that we executed was to note the type of rock along the
shore. In most cases, we found this to be slate. Next, we
measured the length of the beach, noting the size of the various
materials used to block the water. Then we measured the overhang
of the soil, checking to see just how much of the soil had been washed
away by the water. Finally, we compiled all of our information
into quick sketches which have been posted on this site.
