Mammals of the Upland section of the Green Mountain Audobon Nature Center
Squirrels- evidence of the red squirrel can be seen on a simple rock. Pieces of a pulled apart pine cone are the remains of a red spuirrel eating the pine nuts inside the cone.
Deer-remains of a deer fawn were found lying next to a stream. Evidence
to support the fact that the deer was a young male fawn was the small protrutions
found on the skull. These were the beginnings of antlers.
New molars coming into the jaw also supported our theory.
Chipmunks- a bold chipmunk greeted us one afternoon by sticking his small head out of his hiding place.
Beavers- This picture shows a beaver has been in the woods of the upland section!

Rodents- deer bones found away from the deer hide is evidence of rodents, who chew the calcium out of the bones with their sharp teeth.
