I am the botany - forest ecology - general natural history connection for this summer's institute. I live in Richmond, so my house is only about 3 miles from the Green Mountain Audubon Nature Center, our field site for this year --- throw a stick in the river and it will float within 200 yards of my home in an hour or so.
I am a professor of biology and environmental science at Johnson State College. I teach courses in biology, botany, ecology, and natural history. Here's a link to my home page there, which includes a pictorial bio and an up-to-date curriculum vitae.

I've been married for 15 blissful years. My wife is Nancy Bazilchuk, a science and environmental journalist who will come in and tell use about her carreer on the Science Careers Night on Thursday. We have two daughters, Molly (10) and Zoe (6).
We also have a dog, Farley. (That's Zoe on the right).

In our spare time we like to get outdoors. Hiking, biking, cross-country and backcountry skiing, canoeing, and sea kayaking are our favorite sports. This picture is from a recent family trip to Norway, a skiier's paradise. Here's a page with a few more photos.
