Brownell Map

This map was created by us, Sarah Spates and Sarah Chauvin. We used the GPS (Global Positioning System) on every part of the trail we hiked to create a trail map. The points that the GPS gave us were in the form of coordinates and are called UTMs (universal transmercators). We then had to create an enlarged topographical map that would be large enough to accurately plot those points. Obviously, it would be impossible to plot every single inch of the entire trail with the GPS, therefore we came up with a realistic plan. Every time we came upon a curve, or another significant location, we'd turn on the GPS and wait to recieve the coordinates. After recording the points, we plotted them on the enlarged map.

Along with the three trails we hiked, the powerline, logging road, and hiking path, you will see the sites we focused on, such as the surveyed tree sites, the vernal pool, and some interesting bedrock formations.
