Wetland Wildlife

The wetland is located just a short distance north of Indian Brook Reservoir. It was created by a dam built by beavers at the south end of the wetland. The dead trees show that at one time they were out of the water but, then got flooded and killed by the flooding the beaver dam caused. In the wetland you will find many different organisms. You can find anything from tiny mites to deer just by looking around. In the water we have see or see signs of:

Mites

Leaches

Tadpoles

Different fish (Perch, Sunfish, Bullhead, Smallmouth Bass, and various other small fish)

Fish Nests

Salmanders

Turtles

Crayfish

Snails

On the surrounding shore we saw:

Deer

Canadian Geese

Beavers

Bullfrogs

Greenfrogs

Chipmunks

Squirles

We saw and heard the following birds:

Eastern Wood Peewee

Oven Bird

Wood Thrush

In the wetland there are as many or more organisms as in the resivoir which at first glance seems quite unhealthy. But all these organisms show that there is a heathy ecosystem in the wetland. Hopefully you will see a lot of the lildlife we have listed here.
