Welcome to my Webpage
I, Naomi Lawrence made this page at the Governor's Institute for Science and Technology in the Geology computer lab at the University of Vermont.

I am from Starksboro,Vermont (a very tiny town) and I am going into my junior year and I attend Mount Abraham Union High School in Bristol, Vermont.
I am here at the Institute because there was an opportunity to learn more about Geology and I wish to go to college and study to become a geologist.

This is the site I visited while at the Governor's Institute. It is known as the Indian Brook Reservoir. There is a 2 mile hiking trail that extends around the entire reservoir.
We spent most of our days in the field studying the environment and ecology of our site. Each member of the group specialized in a particular topic of their own interest. My specialty for the group was Geology.

This is a immature newt we found as we were walking along the trail looking at the various plant communities.

This is a frog we saw in the leech infested bog we canoed around.

This picture was taken on Tuesday, our second day in the field. We canoed around the reservoir taking depth measurements an other water measurements. Then we carried the canoes through the woods to the bog and paddled around there. Then the fun began.
We took the canoes back to the reservoir and learned how to "rescue" the canoes. (We really learned how to flip the canoes!) It was a lot of fun after a hard days work in the field.
Even though we battled with the rain (and lost) we had a great time. We learned a lot about different topics and had fun doing it. My favorite part, I have to say was flipping the canoes. I also had fun at the barbeque we had at North Beach.

This is Bill the Grill Master. (He's one of our leaders)
