Methodological developments in landscape ecology/environmental science by application of mathematical modelling to obtain strategies for environmental management problems.

Simulation and modelling of spatially explicit systems on different scales (plot or field scale to catchment scale)

Application of optimization methodologies for the development of management strategies of environmental systems.

Model integration needed to cope with a broad range of environmental processes such as abiotic processes (water and matter dynamics in ecosystems including xenobiotics) and biotic processes (habitat suitability, population dynamics).

Studying system behaviour driven by anthropogenic influence.
