Seaton Baxter




Seaton Baxter was born in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1939. He has academic qualifications in building technology and philosophy. He worked for 20 year sin agricultural research mainly concerned with the design of buildings and equipment for animal welfare, before joining the Rober Gordon University, Aberdeen in 1983 as Head of th School of Construction Management, Property and Surveying. At the Robert Gordon University he ahs been an Assistant Principal, Dean and Reader and he established the Centre for Environmental Studies (c1994) and the first ever MSc in Ecological Design. Hew as given early retiral several years ago but remains an Emeritus Professor tof the University. He is currently an Honorary Professor at Dundee University where he is working in the School of Design to develop the notion of natural design. He is also a Visiting Professor in the Faculty of Agriculture at Plymouth University. Seaton ahs worked with several Scottish environmental NGO's- Scottish Environment Link, Association for the Protection o Rural Scotland, Deeside Forest Advisory Group and was formerly a Board member of Scottish Natural Heritage. He was awarded an OBE by the Queen for his services to Scotland's Natural Heritage in 1998. He currently lives in Fife, Scotland.
