BIOGRAPHY



Sandra Janoff, Ph.D. has twenty years experience planning, designing, and facilitating whole-systems interventions in the public and private sector. Her current emphasis is on the strategic futures conference known as future search. She and her partner Marvin Weisbord designed this event which gets the whole system together focusing on the future and creating values-based action strategies. The organizations with whom she has worked include: 3M, American Society on Aging, American Cancer Society, AT&T's Alliance for Employee Growth and Development, Auburn University, Austin Community College, Peabody College, Johns Hopkins Univeristy, Beth Tikva Synagogue, Jewish Reconstructionist Federation, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Maryland, British Airways, Cigna International, FAIRWAY Filamentos, Brazil, Forte Systems, Inc., Quaker Foods Topeka Pet Foods Division, Haworth, Inc., INOVA Health Systems, Penn Ventilator Corp, Reichhold Chemical Corp., Resources for Human Development, Berrett-Koehler Publishers, Malloy Lithographing and Whole Foods Market. She has facilitated efforts to restore our country's manufacturing sector. Two conferences created state-wide extension service program to small and medium size manufacturing firms, one in Massachusetts, one in Alabama. The third conference built a shared future for manufacturing in the Silicon Valley. Her work with Santa Cruz County brought the community together around the issue of housing and began a process of healing in a community that had been divided on this volatile issue. With the community of Ko'olau Loa, Oahu, Hawaii, she worked with the community to solve its social and health related issues and with UNICEF, she enabled Southern Sudanese to create the future for the children of Southern Sudan.


Sandra teaches consultants the theory, principles, and practice of future search methodology. This work has been done on every continent. It is sponsored by Future Search Network, an international non-profit organization that she co-directs, formed to bring this methodology to communities around the world .


Sandra has a Ph.D. in psychology from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA. Sandra and Marv have co-authored Future Search: An Action Guide to Finding Common Ground in Organizations and Communities, Berrett-Koehler, May, 1995, revised January, 2000.
