Mark H. Clevey is a Vice-President with the Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM). Mark holds a Masters Degree, is a specialist in government-sponsored Research and Development Grant procurement for industry and has over 30 years experience working in industry, government and education. Mark has also served as a Business Plan Reviewer for the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Advanced Technology Program and Commercialization Plan Reviewer for the Environmental Protection Agency, Small Business Innovation Research Program.
Since 1989, under a grant from the State of Michigan Mark has Directed the award winning, nationally recognized Michigan SBIR Support Program, helping Michigan businesses procure R&D grants for new technology development. Mark has won five national awards for the quality of this program - most recently the American Society of Association Executives, 2000 Advance America Honor Role. Recently, Mark was appointed to the Michigan Policy Academy Team, National Governor's Association, "Building Entrepreneurial Policy Capacity in the States".
Mark holds particular expertise in renewable energy and environmental areas. Mark is specifically involved in developing a market-based approach to environmental concerns for companies who generate financial value by using less pounds of depletable resources than their competitors to accomplish the same task. Mark serves on the Board of Directors of the Center for Small Businesses and the Environment (CSBE) and is a business representative to a number of environmental organizations. Mark is also a commentator for the Great Lakes Radio Consortium.
