President's Challenge The President's Challenge

Operation: Military Kids' "Get Fit, Be Strong" Challenge is an initiative created to foster health and physical fitness among military youth, while also encouraging family togetherness. This challenge kicks off January 1, 2014 and continues until April 1, 2014. This is a great chance for you and your family to create healthy habits and ditch those pesky unhealthy ones! Let's start the New Year off right!

Use this Activity and Goal Tracking Sheet to help you and your family keep track of your health and fitness goals for the length of this challenge. Each person that joins the challenge will receive a certification of participation from Operation: Military Kids. In addition to the certification, we have created bronze, silver, and gold award levels and will raffle off amazing prizes to those who reach these levels! OMK asks that tracking sheets be sent to OMK's Vermont Headquarters every other Monday starting January 13, 2014. Tracking sheets can be emailed to our OMK Coordinator, Stephanie Atwood, at OMKVermont@uvm.edu, faxed to (802) 656-5422, or mailed to:

The Award Levels:

Bronze- Participant must complete 3 – 4 hours of physical activity per week and achieve 1 - 2 healthy lifestyle goals throughout the course of the challenge.

Silver- Participant must complete 5 – 6 hours of physical activity per week and have achieved 3 - 4 healthy lifestyle goals throughout the course of the challenge.

Gold- Participant must complete 7+ hours of activity per week and achieve all 5 of the healthy lifestyle goals throughout the course of the challenge.

**Bonus Prize- Participants will be entered in our bonus prize raffle if at least 2 hours of activity per week was done together as a family. We ask that you photograph/creatively document your family activities and post them to Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #OMKFamilyFridays. If you are not active on social media, please try and send us your photos via email to Stephanie Atwood, at OMKVermont@uvm.edu or via snail mail to the address listed above.

Don't forget to use our other Facebook and Twitter hashtags while you're out there getting healthy!

#MoveItMondays - Show or tell us all about the physical activities and workouts that you and your family have been doing during the challenge!

#TimeOutTuesdays - Having a "rest & relaxation day" does the body a lot of good! Show or tell us what you and your family do to rest/relax your mind and body throughout the week.

#OMKFamilyFridays - Re-post your family fun photos, any information on activities you've done together, meals you've prepared, shopping trips, anything that you and your family have done together to get healthier!

#ChallengeUpdates - Share with us any updates you may have throughout the challenge – new or accomplished goals, inspiration for other participants, or other update that may help out fellow participants

#HealthyRecipes - Show or tell us all about the healthy recipes that you and your family have prepared throughout the challenge.
