Program Application and Qualification Criteria

Below are some guidelines for target participants. Youth engaged in agriculture are encouraged to apply.

Pre-Application

The program is set to begin January 2013. Click below to download a short form as a pre-application, and we will contact you when slots become available in Fall 2012

Qualification Criteria

Applicants who meet the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply.

Youth ages 14-21 who have experience or a strong interest in agriculture
Young farmers from households meeting the USDA definition of limited resource household, socially disadvantaged or are at-risk
Youth who have grown up on a working farm, but have not yet assumed a significant management role in family farm operation
Young farmers who would be good candidates for the FSA Rural Youth Loan Program, but are not eligible because they have not had business management training or experience yet
