- By Cassie Tricou
Lyndonville--Northeast Kingdom kids are invited to follow the trail of evidence as they learn how to secure, investigate and evaluate crime scenes at a weeklong day camp, Aug. 11-15 in Lyndonville.
The University of Vermont Extension 4-H Tech Wizards CSI Summer Camp is open to all Grade 5-8 students, including those entering fifth grade this fall or just completing eighth grade. It will be held at the Lyndon Town School (2591 Lily Pond Rd.) from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Snacks and beverages will be provided but participants need to bring their own brown-bag lunch.
Campers will learn how to examine crime-scene evidence through hands-on instruction on hair identification, blood-drop analysis, finger printing and other investigative techniques and scientific methods used by detectives and forensics experts. Experiments, lab work and other team-building activities will involve using observational, science and math skills.
Registration is $25. The fee is waived for youths with a parent or guardian in the military. Scholarships are available for non-military kids. Early registration is recommended as space is limited to 12 participants.
