4-H Shooting Sports Leader Training

Time: 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Location: Kehoe Conservation Camp
Description: UVM Extension Shooting Sports program offers a workshop to certify volunteer leaders in archery. muzzleloaader, pistol, rifle, shotgun, hunting. Rutland County 4-H Horsemanship Clinic

Time: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Location: Vermont State Fairgrounds
Description: Open to all 4-Hers in the 4-H Horse Project. Instruction for mounted and horse-less participants. Campsites available for those who wish to stay on-site through the weekend. ServSafe for Meat and Poulry Processors

Time: 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Location: Randolph
Description: Vermont Technical College, 124 Admin Drive, Randolph Center

This is a two-day course (May 16 & 17, 4 hours each day)

Fee: $300/participant (for two days)

The student will learn about food safety requirements for handling meat and poultry in a slaughter and processing facility. Principles of sanitation, meat plant inspection, pest control, worker hygiene, waste disposal and use of chemicals will be discussed. The course will be offered the week before the poultry processing course, and therefore will focus on poultry processing. Upon successful completion of the course, including passing a comprehensive exam, students will earn ServSafe certification.
