Babysitter "Boot Camp"

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Location: Williston
Description:
Who: Youth ages 12 to 16, with a parent or guardian in the military.

Prospective babysitters will gain the knowledge, confidence and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for babies and young children, including younger siblings. They will learn about the stages of child development, how to entertain children of all ages, basic first aid, CPR, safety and the business side of babysitting. The latter will focus on how to land jobs and confidently handle interviews with parents who are looking for a babysitter. Lunch and snacks will be provided. The curriculum was developed by Army Child and Youth Services (CYSS) in cooperation with National 4-H. Upon completion of the training, youths will receive a 4-H/Army CYSS babysitter training graduate certificate.

VT Agricultural Labor Management Program (VT ALMa)

Time: 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Location: St. Johnsbury: UVM Extension
Description: What is the VT ALMa Program?
The VT ALMa program is specifically designed to address the challenges faced by Vermont farms that employ Hispanic workers. The purpose of the program is to provide farm managers with training and resources to create a more stable and reliable workforce through hands-on instruction, consultation and workforce training.

Participation in the ALMa program is free, however preregistration is required. Please contact Christi Sherlock at mailto:christi.sherlock@uvm.edu or 802-223-2389 x200 to register.
