Introduction To HACCP

Description: Who: People interested in selling food products that may require or may benefit from a HACCP plan.

This workshop will provide and introduction to HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) including information on prerequisite programs, conducting a Hazard Analysis, identifying Critical Control Points and Monitoring Procedures, establishment of Critical Limits and Corrective Actions, and Verification and Record Keeping Procedures.

All About Energy: Spend a Day on Farm Energy Effiiciency

Food Labeling for Food Producers and Processors

Time: 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Description: Where: UVM Extension office in Brattleboro, Vermont- 11 University Way, Suite 4

Who Should Attend: People interested in selling food products in any venue.

This seminar will help to clarify regulations for the food products most commonly sold by Vermont food producers and processors. The information required by law to be on food labels will be explained, as well as other items such as UPC codes and label claims. A brief overview of nutritional labeling will also be provided. In addition, a label producer will be presenting a brief overview of digital label printing with a focus on harsh environment labeling ie; freezer storage and high temperature resistant packaging.

Farm Finance Office Hour

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Location: Middlebury Extension Office
Description: Office hours are a time to sit with a UVM Extension Farm Business Management specialist, one-on-one, to work on the financial planning that is most important to your farm. Meetings last 1-1.5 hours and are focused on developing balance sheets, cash budgets or completing financial analysis.

Whole Farm Planning for Women Farmers

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Location: Randolph
Description: Beginning women farmers (those with 2-10 years running a farming business) in Vermont can learn more about whole farm planning in a 10 session program developed specifically for women.

Applications for this course are now being accepted through November 1. Space is limited to 15 qualified participants. Full and partial scholarships are available to cover the registration fee, which is on a sliding scale of $150 to $500. An online application form may be found at www.uvm.edu/newfarmer. 2013 Working Together Conference
