RURAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES TRAINING

Education, Outreach and Support

Rural Emergency Medical Services (REMS) Training supports Emergency Medical Service (EMS) agencies, related health care institutions and communities served by EMS through education and outreach efforts.

At the heart of REMS is education for emergency pre-hospital care providers - First Responder, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced EMT (AEMT), EMS Management and EMS Instructor programs. Refresher training is provided at the local, state and regional levels.

REMS is a joint program of UVM's College of Medicine Department of Surgery, Extension, and Continuing Education.

REMS works closely with the Fletcher Allen Health Care Emergency Department, Vermont EMS District 3 (local level), the Vermont Department of Health Office of EMS and Injury Prevention (state level) and the New England Council for EMS (regional level).
