Lyndonville--Lyndon Town School in Lyndonville was the place to be, Feb. 16, as 4-H'ers from four counties impressed the audience with their amazing knowledge of horses.

The Northeast Regional 4-H Horse Quiz Bowl and Hippology Contest, an annual University of Vermont (UVM) Extension 4-H event, attracted 35 4-H club members from Caledonia, Essex, Lamoille and Orleans Counties. Competitors ranged in age from 8 to 18 with 4-H Cloverbuds (ages 5 to 7) also invited to participate although not eligible to compete.

The day began with the hippology contest, which consisted of a written test, a horse judging piece, slide identification and stations where contestants identified horse-related items such as equipment, forages and parts of the horse. After lunch, they participated in three rounds of quiz bowl questions, with 20 questions per round and tie breakers as needed.

For both hippology and quiz bowl, participants were split up by age groups including Cloverbuds, juniors (8 to 13) and seniors (14 and up).
