Food Labeling Seminar to be Held in February

Burlington--A seminar on food labeling for food producers and processors is planned for Feb. 22 at the Vermont Department of Health office in Burlington.

Dr. Londa Nwadike, University of Vermont Extension food safety specialist, will teach the session, designed to help clarify labeling regulations for commonly sold food products in Vermont. In addition, she will cover UPC codes and the federal requirements regarding label claims and nutritional labeling. Department of Health officials also will be available to answer questions.

The seminar, which will be held at 108 Cherry St., runs from 1 to 3 p.m. Doors open at 12:45 p.m. The fee is $10, which includes all handouts and light refreshments.
