Military Kids Discovery Camp

Time: 12:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Location: 1 Boy Scout Camp Rd, Eden Mills
Description: Who: Military youth 13 through 17

Spend a week at camp discovering your passion! Ever wonder how wind turbines really work? Had a desire to create your own hand tools like a bow and arrow? What do you do if you get hurt and don't have a standard first aid kit nearby? Through camp activities such as archery, climbing, hiking, boating, first aid certification, a visit to a wind farm, and more, campers will test their abilities and engage in activities that support problem solving through discovery. Campers will make new friends, develop leadership skills through communal living, and explore ways to improve or improvise when challenges are presented! Space is limited to 24.
Date: Monday, August 3rd through Friday, August 7th, 2015

UVM Extension at Vermont Open Farm Week

Description: Low-Tech, Hi-Tech, Clean Water, Great Beef. Health Hero Island Farm, 350 West Shore Rd., So. Hero, VT 05486; healthheroislandfarm.com. Join the UVM Extension Center for Sustainable Ag. at Health Hero Farm to learn from farmer Eric how low-tech and high-tech come together on this organic beef and vegetable CSA farm. Learn how remote soil moisture monitors transmit information to his cell phone and how that information is used to both produce meat and protect the water quality of nearby Lake Champlain. Visit with Center staff. The farmstand will have grass-fed beef for sale and products from other local farms.
