Microsoft Windows Vista Support at UVM

What is Windows Vista?

Windows Vista is the latest computer operating system released by Microsoft.  It is the continuation of the Windows XP product line.

Is Vista Supported at UVM?

As of June 2007, Windows Vista is fully supported by ETS. We recommend the use of Vista Enterprise Edition on all University-owned systems. For student computers we recommend the use of Vista Business or Vista Ultimate editions, although other editions will be supported to the best of our abilities as well.

Support Considerations:

• Unless otherwise requested, computers purchased from the UVM Depot will come with Vista pre-installed. 
• Vista is covered under UVM's Microsoft Campus Agreement plan for UVM owned computers. 
• Application compatibility may still be questionable.  Be sure to check the Application Compatibility Matrix.
• Be sure to check the Tested Hardware Matrix before upgrading to see if your computer is able to run Vista.
