UVM Technology Licensing Information

The University of Vermont participates in a number of technology licensing programs in order to provide wide access to important tools in cost-effective ways.

Below are the major campus-wide programs for operating system and office productivity software:

  • Microsoft Campus Agreement
    Yearly license of several Microsoft products for UVM faculty and staff, including Office and Windows.
  • Microsoft Select Agreement
    Provides a number of benefits, including lower cost, centralized license management, and more. Licenses are perpetual.
  • Lotus Total Campus Option
    Provides Lotus SmartSuite software to all UVM Affiliates for a nominal cost.  Media available though The Computer Depot.

The following scientific and research applications are licensed for use on University-owned computers:

In addition, the following software packages are licensed for use by the entire UVM Community.  Al of these programs can be obtained from the UVM Software Archive:

  • Oracle Calendar - enterprise calendaring solution
  • Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition
  • SSH Communications Security - SSH Client
  • X-Win32 -- X-Windows client for Microsoft Windows
  • Fetch - FTP Client (Macintosh)

The following programs are available to a limited portion of the UVM Community:

  • Novell NetWare
    Available for all UVM faculty and staff.  Contact Greg MacKinnon at ETS Client Services for details.
  • Novell GroupWise
    Available for all UVM faculty and staff.  Contact Greg MacKinnon at ETS Client Services for details.
  • Symantec Ghost 7
    PC System imaging software
