To help colleges, schools, and administrative departments provide
faculty and staff with appropriate computing hardware and software, the
Computer Advance Program (CAP), having now completed its ninth year,
has
subsidized the purchase of close to 900computers. As in
years past, the FY
2008 Computer Advance Program provided $750 towards the purchase
of 100 UVM-configured Macintosh and Windows systems and standard
UVM
software. Aimed at replacing the most deficient systems for individual
faculty and staff, the program was intended to help departments acquire
appropriate technology despite budget stresses, to increase
standardization, and to encourage life-cycle replacement budgeting.
