Creating Your Account
Visit
http://www.uvm.edu/account/ to create or manage your
account.
From this page, you can forward your mail, filter your mail, block e-mail addresses, or set a vacation message on
your account. You must be a UVM affiliate (be registered for a class or on the payroll) to create an account.
Zoo accounts are required for many classes at UVM and allow you to access many UVM-only resources.
What You Can Do With Your Zoo Account
E-Mail - Zoo is the best e-mail server on campus!
Web Pages - You can use your Zoo account to create web pages
File Sharing - You can store your files on Zoo and access them
from anywhere in the world.
Running Applications - Many programs can be run directly
from Zoo, either in an X-Windows environment or from the command line.
Write Programs - many programming languages are
available on Zoo
Learn about UNIX - UNIX is a powerful multi-user
operating system with many useful tools
Account Policies
By accepting and/or using your UVM Zoo account, you must understand and agree to accept several
responsibilities.
What is Zoo?
Zoo is a collection of reliable, secure servers running AIX, Solaris and Linux. Those servers are involved in
things like web serving, file serving, sending and receiving e-mail, video streaming, running custom scripts and
web programs, serving databases, and many other tasks. You can
