Exam Proctoring Center (EPC)

Instructions to Faculty for EPC Usage

Faculty Responsibilities:

  • It is the instructor's responsibility to provide qualified students with their accommodations as described in their ACCESS letters
    • The Exam Proctoring Center is one option for providing these accommodations.
    • Providing a place in your department may be appropriate particularly for advanced coursework.
  • The EPC cannot provide readers or scribes for foreign langauges or advanced technical courses.
    • Please contact us to verify if we can provide these services for your course if the student requires them.

  • Exams should be sent to the EPC using the Exam Proctoring Checklist at least 24 hours in advance of test time.

    Tests may also be

    • e-mailed to epc@uvm.edu
    • delivered by faculty to the EPC, Living/Learning Building A, Room A131.
    • faxed to 802-656-0739
    • brought by the student in a sealed envelope
    • Please do not use Campus Mail to send tests as ontime delivery is not assured

    Please advise the EPC of the delivery method if the test is not sent electronically.

  • Completed tests will be returned by an Exam Proctoring Center courier to the appropriate department unless other arrangements are explicitly specified on the Proctoring Checklist.

    • Exams completed after 3:30pm will be returned by courier the next morning.
    • The test will be returned in a sealed envelope and must be signed for by a department representative.

  • It is the student's responsibility to arrange all test accommodations.
    • Each term, before accepting any request for testing accommodation, the student must give you
      • an ACCESS letter authorizing test accommodations, or
      • documentation identifying them as an International or a TRiO student who is an English Language Learner
    • The student should request your permission for each test at the EPC no less than a week before the test date.
      • They will submit an Exam Scheduing Request to the EPC; you will receive a courtesy copy of their request via email.
        This does not serve as their request for your permission; they should discuss each test with you before scheduling.
      • ACCESS informs students that they must make their request for test accommodations in a timely manner or they may not be accommodated at the EPC.
        • If a student cannot be accommodated in the EPC, faculty must make alternate arrangements to provide the accommodation.
