Areas of Interest:

Office reception and management, appointment scheduling, student records, food systems and education for sustainable development

Amara (formerly Jaclyn) manages our front office, schedules appointments for students with faculty and staff, and keeps track of everyone's schedules, the mail, student forms, files, ENVS major plans, some financial records, and the photocopier and supplies.

Amara grew up in Colchester, Vermont. She studied psychology and environmental geology at the University of Rochester. In 2010 she returned to Vermont to pursue the interdisciplinary Master of Natural Resources degree with a concentration in Environment, Thought and Culture program through UVM's Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources. Amara took a wide variety of service learning courses and focused her master’s thesis project on local food systems in sustainability education, developing and field testing a high school curriculum.

She continues to be passionate about local food, growing her own vegetables and herbs indoors most of the year and outside in the paradise that is summer in Vermont. She also keeps busy with friends and family, drawing and photography, yoga and hiking, and social justice and community outreach opportunities.
