ENVS 195 Ways of Knowing: Nature and Perception

Keeping a nature journal enjoys a long tradition of deepening understanding of the natural world and creating connection to place. Join us as we explore the journals and essays and of historical and contemporary naturalists and writers. We will apply what we learn to our own journaling and writing practice. This course focuses on improving our field sketching skills, developing our writing skills, and awakening our senses. See how a nature journal is a tool for unlocking the mysteries that surround us both in the forests and in our own backyards as you practice seeing like an artist, a writer, and a naturalist.
