AMNEW

Automated Assessment
Method for
North-
Eastern
Wetlands

AMNEWwas developed at the University of Vermont School of Natural
Resources by Paul Cedfeldt, Mary Watzin and Bruce Dingee Richardson to provide a
comprehensive GIS based tool that can identify functionally important wetlands in the
Northeast United States.  AMNEW is a suite of eight separate ArcInfo GIS AML
programs that run in ArcInfo's Grid module.  Using remotely sensed land use information
and DEMs as input, AMNEW will output three separate grids of wetlands that perform
three primary wetland functions:  floodflow alteration, surface water quality improvement,
and wildlife habitat.  A list of predictors for each function is available.
