Eco-Reps Fall bulb swap success!

UVM Eco-Reps exchanged 500 CFL bulbs this Fall. This is one of our regular actions that has a relatively easy-to-measure impact.

According to our calculations for the incandescent bulbs we collected, this amounts to the university avoiding approximately:

  • 21,000 kwh of electricity
  • $2,500 in utility costs
  • 7.85 MT of CO2e emissions

 

This is an annual activity for UVM Eco-Reps, and may involve exchanging a smaller number of more efficient LED bulbs for next year...

Energy Efficiency: light-bulb swaps

Look for the opportunity to pick up new efficient light bulbs in exchange for energy intensive incandescent bulbs.

Compact flourescent (CFL) bulbs use about 75% less energy than standard incandescent bulbs and lasts at least 6 times longer.
