New Service ChangesIn
June 2009 Custodial Services held a series of
open information sessions to outline FY 2010 service levels
changes driven by the current financial conditions. You can view the

New Service Level Change 2010 The
premise of these service changes is to enable us to remain student
centric in our approach to cleaning the UVM campus.
Unaffected
areas include:
Classrooms,
computer labs, library spaces, the Davis Center, public event spaces,
restrooms, and food service areas
Affected
area s include:
Offices, departmental conference rooms, research labs, and
hallways

Offices & Departmental Conference Rooms
The
most significant of these changes is that effective FY 2010 office
areas will only be serviced one time per week and that all desk side trash and recyle containers will no longer be
serviced / supplied with trash liners. All UVM staff will bring
their own trash and recycle to public collection areas (hallway bins). We will provide additional waste can capacity for for trash & recycle in common areas to help facilitate this process.Specifics
pertaining to when a particular office will receive routine service
shall be made available to individual office occupants at the
beginning of July. At this time a small personal mini-bin
will be placed on each desk for occupants to put their daily
wast in. This will
provide a more manageable receptacle for you to maintain than the
current desk side waste containers.
Your current waste container will not be removed. However,
Custodial Services will no longer provide service or trash bags to
them. If you still desire to use your current waste container you
will have to provide your own trash bag(supplied by you or your
department) and you will be responsible for maintaining it as well.
While most smaller office areas will have a set
schedule from the begining, some of the larger areas may need to be
adjusted over the first few months of this new program as the staff and
faculty return from their summer leave. We ask that you
please be patient as we develop a schedule that will serve every office
area equally well.
Additionally,
all departmentally managed conference rooms will go to receiving a once
per week cleaning service. This service will be the same as
offices and not include waste / recycle removal. Each individual
department will administrate waste removal from their areas in a manor
they deem appropriate for their business.
As the schedules for these areas evolve, we will keep you informed.
Research Labs
Heavy
floor(strip & wax, carpet cleaning) care in research lab areas will
be reduced to one(1) time per year. No other changes will occur
to research lab areas.
Hallways
Heavy
floor care(strip & wax, carpet cleaning) in hallways will be
reduced to one(1) timer per year and High/Low dusting will occur
bi-weekly(baseboards, ceiling lights, etc.).
