Our Commitment to Diversity & Social Justice

The Center for Student Ethics and Standards (CSES) is committed to embracing diversity in its many forms (including but not limited to, race, religion, spirituality and/or ways of knowing, ethnicity, age, nationality, Veteran status, gender, gender identity expression, socio-economic status, ability, sexual orientation) in an effort to support, challenge and prepare students for working and living in a pluralistic society.

Additionally, we uphold the standards of our common ground -Respect, Integrity, Innovation, Openness, Justice and Responsibility - and encourage members of the UVM community to support these standards as well.

We aim to:

  • Offer educational opportunities and interventions;
  • Eradicate all forms of oppression, harassment, bias, intolerance, and incivility;
  • Recruit, hire and retain multiculturally competent professionals;
  • Provide ongoing opportunities for personal and professional development in the areas of diversity and social justice.

In doing so, we hope to foster an inclusive and affirming campus climate for all students, faculty and staff.
