Opportunities
The following list of Burlington
agencies offers you a place to begin your community restitution experience. After
reviewing the list, make a few introductory calls to investigate which site would
be the best for you in terms of your interests, time availability, and the needs
of the agency. If you already perform community service and/or would like to work
at an agency not listed on this sheet, contact CSES at (802)656-4360. If you have
more than 10 hours to complete, you may choose to work at several different agencies.
In order for your community restitution to be considered complete, you must:
Receive approval for your agency from the Community Restitution
Coordinator.
Return
paper and timesheet to Center for Student Ethics & Standards, 41 S. Prospect
Street, Burlington, VT. 05405, or fax it at (802) 656-8191. Please indicate
"Confidential c/o Community Restitution Coordinator" on the faxed
document.
Please be sure that you keep any
appointments you make to complete your service; failure to keep appointments may
require you to select a different agency. Students have performed their hours
at soup kitchens, national parks, elderly homes and after-school programs, among
others.Be advised to begin your agency search as soon as possible in order to
assure completion of your hours by the assigned deadline. You will need
to call the Center for Student Ethics & Standards at least 10 days before your
deadline if you are having trouble setting up community restitution hours.
