CRS: Â resources and expertise to support people and communities
Food System Research Collaborative
The Food System Research Collaborative was launched by the Center for Rural Studies with a meeting of the minds on February 6, 2009. The primary goal of the Collaborative is to join on-campus and off-campus organizations in efforts to further food system research and enhance linkages to the work on the ground in Vermont and beyond.

Setting the Research Agenda
Through an assessment of research gaps, researchers and representatives from organizations throughout Vermont identified the following research questions:
- How do you make the food system more robust?
- Can an increase in marketing and education drive the system forward?
- What are the leverage points for change and the system constraints?
- How do we remove barriers for people who want to enter the field?
- How do we change perceptions of Ag as a low value economic sector?
