Reconsidering the Textbook

We brought together, at the National Academy of Sciences, more than 50 scientists, engineers and National Science Foundation Program Officers to consider, across disciplines, the current state of the textbook. The consensus of the workshop was that the next generation of textbooks will be thinner, community designed, and linked to electronic resources.
