Fish Springs Fans and Earthquakes

Fish Springs cinder cone and the adjacent alluvial fans are a dramatic example of tectonic activity off-setting geomorphic features on the landscape. Sampling of alluvial fan boulders, along with detailed soil studies, helped us estimate fan surface ages and thus offset rates integrated over different lengths of time.
