About Pure Vermont

For over 30 years, the Consumer Assistance Program (CAP) of the Attorney General's Office has been working to maintain a healthy Vermont marketplace by promoting consumer awareness, protecting consumers from fraud, and connecting consumers with available resources. In understanding that values deeply rooted within Vermont tradition inherently help to create a healthy marketplace.  The Pure Vermont Program was developed in order to celebrate the following Vermont values:

        Caring for our community
        Helping our neighbors
Promoting fair dealing in the marketplace

In conjunction with the Pure Vermont Program, Vermont Attorney General William H. Sorrell will issue a personalized "Pure Vermont Award" to individuals, businesses, and organizations that exemplify these values.

Here in Vermont, a handshake still means something, and Vermonters expect fair dealing in the marketplace. We also have a strong tradition of neighbors taking care of neighbors. I am launching this program to raise awareness about the efforts that Vermonters make everyday to make this state a great place to live and do business.”
