Keynote: Jaia Peterson Lent, Generations United
Jaia Peterson Lent is the Public Policy and Outreach Director at Generations United (GU), the only national membership organization focused solely on promoting intergenerational public policies, strategies, and programs. Her work includes educating Congress on intergenerational issues, coordinating the GU Public Policy Committee, authoring the intergenerational policy agenda for each Congress, presenting at international and national conferences, and developing and maintaining statewide kinship networks focused on building support for subsidized guardianship programs. Jaia is a leading expert on intergenerational public policies and programs and issues related to grandparents raising children. Under Jaia’s leadership, the LEGACY housing bill for grandparents raising children was passed in 2003. Jaia received her Masters of Social Work from Syracuse University. She is a licensed social worker who has worked in Child Protective Services, refugee resettlement, and in many other capacities with individuals and families from a variety of cultural backgrounds. |
