 More and more, relatives are raising others' children because of parental substance abuse, incarceration, and mental illness.
The purpose of this conference is twofold:
- for relatives - grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings and others - to know that they are not alone, and that there are supports and resources available, as they raise children who came to them often under challenging situations
- for professionals and others who work with these families to better understand the joys and problems that adult relatives experience as they raise the children, so that they can better serve these families
VKAP Mission Statement
 Vermont Kin As Parents (VKAP) is committed to support relatives who are raising children and to educate the public and community partners about the joys and difficulties these families experience.
