students in a study group

Students study together.

The College of Nursing and Health Sciences Office of Student Services provides academic advising and guidance, particularly through the first-year transition to college life.

Academic Advising

Our responsibility to prepare students for challenging roles in the health care professions makes academic advising a focus of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

First-Year Advising

First-year students are encouraged to meet regularly with their academic advisors. Students also take NH 50: Applications to Health, a one-credit course that includes opportunities to interact with faculty, explore UVM services, and develop habits that support academic success.

Advising Beyond the First Year

Upper-class students are assigned to a faculty mentor for continued guidance in their programs.
