College of Nursing & Health Sciences Advising

Best Practices in Advising

The College of Nursing and Health Sciences' advising program is based on current best practices, and our services are deliberately constructed to ensure developmentally responsive advisement. Read the full College of Nursing and Health Sciences Academic Advising Plan.

First-year students also take NH 50: Applications to Health, a one-credit course that includes opportunities to interact with College of Nursing and Health Sciences faculty, explore UVM services, and develop strategies for academic success.

A comprehensive four-year career plan complements students' one-on-one advising conversations.

Advising Beyond the First Year

Students in their sophomore, junior and senior year are assigned to a faculty advisor in their major and encouraged to establish regular contact at the beginning of each semester and before registering for courses. Graduating students must meet with their advisor to review their CATS report and complete the Intent to Graduate form.
