    Education for pre-hospital emergency care providers

    At the heart of IREMS is education for emergency pre-hospital care providers - Wilderness First Responder, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and Advanced EMT (AEMT). An EMS minor is also available.

Education, Outreach and Support

The Initiative for Rural Emergency Medical Services (IREMS) training program supports Emergency Medical Service (EMS) agencies, related healthcare institutions and communities served by EMS through education and outreach efforts.

At the heart of IREMS is education for emergency pre-hospital care providers - Wilderness First Responder, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced EMT (AEMT), and an EMS minor. 

IREMS works closely with the University of Vermont Medical Center Emergency Department, Vermont EMS District 3 (local level), the Vermont Department of Health Office of EMS and Injury Prevention (state level) and the New England Council for EMS (regional level).
