Second Year Graduate Student
I graduated from a small public school in upstate New York (SUNY Oneonta) in the spring of 2009 with a B.S. in Molecular & Cellular Biology. Although I knew I wanted to pursue a career in research, I thought it would be best to take a few years off and develop my bench skills before continuing my studies in graduate school. Soon after graduating, I began working as a research technician in the lab of Dr. Laura Kramer at Wadsworth Center in Albany, New York studying West Nile Virus evolution.
After working as a technician for a few years, I joined the CMB program in the fall of 2012. I chose to continue my education at UVM because of the diverse research opportunities available to students within the CMB program, and for the school’s close proximity to the Green Mountains and the Adirondacks in New York.
I joined the Wargo lab in the spring of 2013 and am currently studying gene regulation within the choline catabolic pathway of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and multispecies biofilm colonization of the International Space Station.
