Dr. Johnson received his Ph.D. from the University of Maine for research performed at the Jackson Laboratory under the guidance of Dr. Donald Bailey. He received postdoctoral training at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in the laboratory of Dr. William Dove. He has been a faculty member at the Trudeau Institute in Saranac Lake, New York for more than 22 years.

Research Interests

My lab studies the protozoan parasite, Toxoplasma gondii, to investigate mechanisms of innate and acquired immunity to infection. Areas of special emphasis include regulation of innate and acquired immunity, the role of B cells in immunity to intracellular pathogens, genetic determinants of infection-stimulated immunopathology, and, in collaboration with Dr. Stephen Smiley of the Trudeau Institute, the interrelationships between blood coagulation and immunity to infection.
