Profile

Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist. Undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. Doctor of Medicine from Stanford University. Internship and Residency Brigham and Women's and Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard University). Fellowship in Immunology in NIAID, Bethesda Maryland with Ronald Germain and then Polly Matzinger. Assistant Professor at Emory University. Came to University of Vermont in 2002. Currently Associate Professor with Tenure.

Research Description

I. Maternal immunity: 1) Characterization of the maternal immune response to fetal and exogenously acquired antigens; 2) Implications of feto-maternal cellular trafficking. 3) Reproductive tract infection. 4) Antiviral immunity during pregnancy 5) Developmental functions of cytokines in pregnancy 6) Dendritic cell diversity in reproductive states

II. Sexually transmitted diseases in women: 1) The immune response to Human Papillomavirus and its relationship to cervical dysplasia; 2) Attitudes towards HIV and other STD testing in women 3). Prevalence and transmission of Hepatitis C Virus

III. nflammatory and infectious aspects of vulvar pain syndromes
